Most Bible Scholars Agree that the little horn of Daniel 7 is the same entity as the beast of Revelation chapter 13. The little horn and the beast arise in the same location, do the same things, speak the same words, and rule for the same amount of time.
The Description of the Little Horn By studying the detailed description of the little horn we will be able to identify the antichrist of Bible Prophecy.
Antichrist Clue #1
"And the ten horns out of this kingdom [are] ten kings [that] shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings." Daniel 7:24
It is clear from the scriptures that beasts and horns represent kings and kingdoms.
(In Bible prophecy kings and kingdoms are used interchangably. For an example please compare Daniel 7:17 with Daniel 7:23)
Antichrist Clue #2
"I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them..." Daniel 7:8
The Bible indicates that the antichrist would arise among the divisions of the former western Roman empire. (further explanation coming soon, please bookmark this page.)
Antichrist Clue #3
"I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn..." Daniel 7:8
The antichrist is a little nation.
Antichrist Clue #4
"...shall rise after them..." Daniel 7:24
Arises into power after the Roman empire was divided into ten divisions. (History tells us that the Roman empire was divided by the year 476 A.D.)
Antichrist Clue #5
"...before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots:
..." Daniel 7:8
Three of the ten divisions of the Roman empire would be destroyed as this little nation arises to power. (See also Daniel 7:24)
Antichrist Clue #6
"...and, behold, in this horn [were] eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things." Daniel 7:8
This little nation in western Europe has a notable leader who gives it direction.
Antichrist Clue #7
"...and, behold, in this horn [were] eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things." Daniel 7:8
This leader of this nation speaks "great things" or "great words" against God. (See Daniel 7:11,20,25) In James 3:5 we see that "great things" spoken refers to proud boastful words.
In Hosea 8:12 God says "I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing." Hosea 8:12
Conclusion:
This little horn will speak proud boastful things against God's law including changing God's law, see point #10 below.
Antichrist Clue #8
"...and he shall be diverse from the first." Daniel 7:8
This nation and it's leader are religious in nature, it thinks it has authority over God's law and people, (see verse 25) which makes it very different from the other kings and kingdoms of Europe.
Antichrist Clue #9
"...and shall wear out the saints of the most High..." Daniel 7:25
This nation is a persecuting power, it particularly persecutes God's saints, those who strictly adhere to the Bible. (See also Revelation 12:17)
Antichrist Clue #10
"...and think to change times and laws..." Daniel 7:25
This nation and its leader thinks it can change God's times and laws. The people who follow the antichrist and think that they can change God's laws are on the wrong side of this issue, for the Bible clearly states that at the end of time the devil will be persecuting those that keep God's laws, not those that think they can change them. (See Revelation 12:17)
Antichrist Clue #11
"...and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time." Daniel 7:25
The saints will seem to be forsaken of God as they are given into the hands of the little horn until the end of definite time period. At the end of this prophetic 1260 year prophetic time period the antichrist will receive a deadly wound(see Revelation 13:3.)
This time frame occurs in several other formats in the Bible for example
42 months or 1260 days. See also Revelation 12:6 and
12:14 for the same time period. God's true church will
be in hiding during this portion of the reign of the little horn.
NOTE: These time periods represent 1260
Literal years that antichrist reigned. Here is a quick
explanation. Jesus, the true Christ of God, had a ministry
on this earth for 3 and 1/2 years but the majority of
the world, and even His own people rejected Him. So
God said, if you don't want the true Christ, my Son
to reign over you, then you can have the Antichrist,
the "Son of Perdition", for 1260 years and
experience what his rulership would be like. See Numbers
14:34 for another example of this "Year for a Day"
Bible principle.
"And your children shall wander in the wilderness
forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases
be wasted in the wilderness. After the number of the
days in which ye searched the land, even forty
days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach
of promise." Numbers 14:33-34
